The GenIsis™ application consists of four elements:

1. A Microsoft Excel-based workbook covering the complete ValueNet Works™ methodology

2. A program that allows for:

o            Converting the transactions scoped in the MS Excel workbook into an MS Access database table

o            Converting the previously generated MS Access database tables into an MS Visio file

o            Converting MS Visio files into an MS Access database table

o            Performing pre-defined VNA and ONA analyses on the relevant MS Access database file

o            Generating encompassing reports presented in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access, based upon the analyses conducted

3. An MS Access database pre-defined for supporting the GenIsis™ program and for conducting further analyses for research purposes

4. An MS Visio template pre-defined for supporting the GenIsis™

The GenIsis™ application is designed to act as a bridge between established Microsoft applications, including Excel, Visio, and Access. This leverages the full capabilities of the MS Office applications and the MS product suite. All elements of the ValueNet Works™ methodology can be explored as GenIsis™ enables seamless data transfer between these standard applications. The data conversion and analysis functions are accessible only via the GenIsis™ interface.

GenIsis™ is delivered as a self-install routine for a Microsoft Windows environment. Furthermore, since the GenIsis™ application prototype is built upon XML and Visual Basic.Net technology, interfaces can easily be created to standard enterprise data environments.

Requirements: MS Office, MS Visio, and MS Access. Extended platform testing to identify further requirements is in progress.

Status: The application is currently available in a prototype version for select purposes. Parties interested in exploring GenIsis™ are asked to contact oliver.schwabe@euro-focus.com.

The name GenIsis™ is based upon two powerful metaphors of creation and renewal:

Genesis

In the fictional Star Trek universe, Project Genesis was a process of rapidly terraforming worlds to make them suitable for settlement and food production. The idea of the Project Genesis was first introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. It was described as "life from lifelessness," and as Spock noted, it was perfectly named after the first book of the Bible.

Isis

Isis (Greek corruption; the Egyptian is Aset) was originally a goddess from Nubia, and was adopted into Egyptian belief very early and continued to play a strong role in the Hellenistic Era. Her name literally means (female) of throne, i.e. Queen of the throne, although the hieroglyph used originally meant (female) of flesh, i.e. mortal, and she may simply have represented deified, real, queens. She shared with Osiris the attribute of "giver of life."

A hymn about Isis from the 14th century BC says:
In the beginning there was Isis: Oldest of the Old, She was the Goddess from whom all Becoming.

The GenIsis™ application embraces the spirit of continual renewal and creativity — not only in the living systems based ValueNet Works™ methodology which it supports, but in the capacity of the application to continually renew and synthesize different applications and databases.
